Oberon® - New Insecticide Chemistry achieves ‘Emergency Use Approval' for Potato Psyllid control
Oberon has recently achieved an ‘Emergency Use Approval' and label claim for the control of the Potato Psyllid that caused such devastation to potato crops last season.
Oberon's unique new chemistry and mode of action (inhibition of lipid biosynthesis) provides outstanding control of developmental stages (eg; nymphs) but also has excellent effects on female adults, reducing their fecundity and the viability of eggs. Oberon has a moderate speed of action but provides long lasting residual activity.
Stephen McKennie, Technical Manager for Horticentre says "Due to its excellent translaminar and residual activity, the active ingredient can target the difficult to reach Psyllid nymphs which prefer the undersides of potato leaves".
Stephen adds "Oberon should be applied mid season on a potato crop once growth has stabilised, with two applications seven days apart, to provide the best long lasting residual activity."
Oberon has only a 7 day withholding period and is available in a 15 ltr pack.
Oberon is exclusively distributed by ‘Horticentre' in the North Island and by ‘Tasman Crop Protection', ‘Cates Grain & Seed', ‘Seed Production' and 'Advance Agriculture' in the South Island.
