BugScan Roll (B), BugScan Roll Mini (B) and BugScan Ribbon (B) are rolls of sticky tape for mass-trapping of flying insects. At certain time during the growing season, large quantity of harmful flying insects can appear from outside the greenhouse and disturb the biological balance in the greenhouse. Using sticky tapes is an excellent measure for mass-trapping of flying insects.
1. BugScan Roll (B)
Is 100 m long and 30 cm wide. There is a 2 cm-wide border without glue on both sides of the roll to facilitate its installation. Each roll has a non-sticky part at the beginning to make unrolling easy (this part can be cut off later if necessary).
2. BugScan Roll Mini (B)
Is 100 m long and 10 cm wide. This sticky tape has the same characteristics as the BugScan Roll (B).
3. BugScan Ribbon (B)
Is 100 m long and 5 cm wide. This narrow sticky tape was especially developed for cultures where light is very important.
Use of sticky tapes
- Sticky tapes are mostly used in protected horticulture but can also be used in open fields in areas where there is practically no sand and dust in the air.
- Catching flying insects entering through windows and/or doors.
Place sticky tapes close to windows and doors so that insects entering the greenhouse are immediately attracted and caught by the tapes. (Be careful to not place the tapes too close to windows and doors; this might lure the insects inside). - Catching harmful insects on the plants.
Place sticky tapes close to the top of the plants. When working in the crop, the insects will fly away and get stuck on the rolls. (Be careful: Sticky tapes can also attract and catch beneficials. Therefore, sticky tapes should be placed at least 20 cm above the plants).
Make sure that sticky tapes do not obstruct staff or any later activities. No need to replace sticky tapes often.
